Industries, Labor and Employment and Transport Minister Bikram Singh said that an ESI Medical Tribunal would be constituted in the state. If the insured person is not satisfied with the decision of the Medical Board, he can appeal it. The Minister gave this information while presiding over the 39th meeting of the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), the regional board of Himachal Pradesh, on Wednesday. Bikram Thakur said that the ESI Medical Tribunal would be constituted under Regulation 76 of the ESI Regulations, 1950 (Ordinary).
At present, the ESI scheme is working in seven districts of the state. This scheme will be implemented soon in Hamirpur, Chamba, Kullu, Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti districts. ESI courts have been established in seven implemented districts. The process of opening branch offices of ESI at Shimla, Kangra and Bilaspur is in progress. The Labor and Employment Minister directed that ESIC be made available to workers in the state's hydropower projects. He directed the officers to prepare a proposal for the opening of the institute of ESIC and send it to the government at the earliest.
All the departments were asked to expedite the process by working in coordination to give maximum benefit to the insured. He said that an awareness campaign would be launched to make the beneficiaries of the Employees' State Insurance Corporation aware. Sanjeev Kumar spoke about the state's Employees State Insurance Corporation and Employees State Insurance Scheme. He also talked about the facilities provided in the hospitals and dispensaries being run under the ESI scheme.
The meeting was attended by Director Health Protection and Regulation Sumit Khimta, Director Health Services and Family Welfare Dr. Anita Mahajan, Director and Member Secretary Regional Board Sanjeev Kumar, Deputy Director PB Gurung, Employees State Insurance Corporation State Medical Officer Dr. Amit Sahliwal, Deputy Medical Superintendent Adarsh Hospital Baddi Dr. Sunil Dutt Sharma, senior officers of various departments, representatives of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, CITU and INTUC were present.
